Dr. Gerd Heuschmann // Virtual Riding and Horse School

«Since years I have been trying to keep the basic principles of classical horse training, based on Steinbrecht / H.Dv.12 / Guidelines for Riding and Driving FN Warendorf (Federal Association of equestrian sport and horse breeding Germany), alive for riders and horses. The core of this teaching is a released supple and permeable horse, which is ready for work for any equestrian discipline. My theoretical work finds its main focus in the analysis and explanation of the knowledge of the old masters of the 19th -21st century on the background of biomechanics.

My practical work is primarily aimed at correcting horses, horses with abnormal behaviour or movement, problems within the contact and acceptance of the bit and unclean rhythm. The development of an independent and supple rider's seat plays a central role in this process. It is basic to work a horse from this seat into a supple leaning position. I strongly oppose any compulsive head and neck positioning, be it an artificial straightening or overbridging of the horse. Classical riding theory answers all these questions from the natural needs of the horse.»

All classical disciplines:

  • Dressage
  • Jumping
  • Eventing

Dr. Gerd Heuschmann offers his analysis in German and English. French is available as a chargeable option for the written analysis.
